1982年、世田谷区経堂にオープンした雑貨店「セタガヤママ」。店主の名前は大橋正子。貸本、イラストレーター・柳生弦一郎の「ぬりえ」の出版、小さなラジオ放送（ミニFM）など、その活動は多岐にわたりました。住宅街でひときわ目立つピンクと黄色の窓は建築家・石山修武が、ロゴはデザイナーの平野甲賀が手がけています。
本展は、「セタガヤママ」を中心に、子育て中の女性たちが試みた“生活の実験”をご紹介する初の機会となります。1979年に平野公子が自宅マンションを開放した文庫「子どもザウルス」、そこで出会った主婦たちが公園や友人宅で展開した「あめの会」、その活動や日々のことを綴った「あめの会通信」。ここでガリ切りを担当した田上正子は、現在も「あめつうしん」というミニコミをガリ版で発行しています。
会場では、当時のミニコミや写真、平野甲賀のグラフィックといった貴重な作品から、現在も続く「あめつうしん」まで、およそ40年分の資料を展示します。さらに「セタガヤママ」周辺の子どもたちが当時を振り返ったエッセイ、常連だった絵本作家・石津ちひろが書き下ろした詩もご紹介。それぞれの視点から、生活を軸にした小さなメディアの活動を辿ります。マンションの一室から出発したママたちの冒険と、その「続き」をお楽しみください。

Setagaya Mama Cont’d
40 Years as a Small Media Outlet
Setagayama Mama was a general store that opened in Kyodo, Setagaya-ku in 1982. The owner’s name was Masako Ohashi. She conducted a wide range of activities, including lending books, publishing coloring books by illustrator Genichiro Yagyu, and conducting small radio broadcasts (known as “mini FM” in Japanese). The store’s pink and yellow windows that stood out in the residential area were designed by architect Osamu Ishiyama, and its logo was by designer Koga Hirano.
This exhibition will be the first opportunity to introduce “experiments in daily life” by women raising children, focused on the activities of Setagayama Mama. These experiments included Kodomo-saurus, a library opened to the public by Kimiko Hirano in her apartment in 1979; Ame-no-Kai, a gathering held in parks and homes of mothers who met at Kodomo-saurus; and "Ame-no-Kai Tsushin", a record of the activities and daily life of the Ame-no-Kai. Masako Tanoue, who was in charge of the mimeograph (a duplicating machine that preceded the photocopier ), still uses a mimeograph to release a mini publication called "Ame Tsushin".
The venue will display about 40 years’ worth of materials, including everything from mini publications and photographs from around the 1980s, to precious works such as Koga Hirano’s graphics, to "Ame Tsushin" that continue to be published to this day. In addition, there will also be essays reflecting on the era by people who lived near Setagaya Mama as children as well as poems written by picture book author Chihiro Ishizu, a regular at the store. Using these diverse perspectives, the exhibition traces small media activities rooted in daily life. Discover the adventures of mothers that began in the room of one of their apartments, and learn how they are continuing today.
